We've worked with these guys on several pool forming and excavation projects. They're on time, work hard, and do great work. Would recommend to other builders!

Star sits west of Eagle along State Highway 44, and it's changing fast. Pasture and farm ground are turning into subdivisions, and people with a few acres are putting in shops, pools and driveways. It's still a small-town place, but the dirt work looks a lot like what we do in bigger cities, with a few local twists.
Star is close to the Boise River, and the ground reflects it. In places you'll find sand, gravel and round river cobble from old channels. Cobble digs slowly, and in a trench the walls can slough because the rock doesn't hold together. Groundwater also comes up in parts of Star, especially during irrigation season when the soil is wet. A hole that was dry in March can have water in it in July.
We plan for that. Pit walls are cut to stay safe in loose material, pumps are ready, and the next crew is scheduled right behind us so an open hole doesn't sit for days. This matters for foundation excavation, basement excavation and swimming pool excavation. If you're pricing a pool, our guide to what affects pool excavation cost explains how groundwater and soil change the bid.
Many Star lots are on the small side, and HOAs are common. They often want to approve grade changes, pools and berms and they set rules for work hours and truck traffic. We ask about those rules at the start. In tight subdivision lots, water has to leave through a shallow swale between houses, so our site grading for construction work sets that path carefully and keeps it clear of fences, AC pads and landscaping.
On a larger development, we also handle subdivision earthworks, lot clearing and underground utilities.
Outside the town sewer area, many Star properties use a septic system and a well. Ada County septic permits go through Central District Health, and a site evaluation comes first. We dig the test holes, tank and drainfield for septic system installation and help with septic repair. Our article on septic permits in Ada and Canyon County covers what to start first.
On acreage, lines and pads tend to get added one at a time, so a little planning helps. We lay out a single utility corridor for power, water and communications, and we use trenching services to put it in. Land clearing comes first if the parcel has brush, fence lines or old trees. Many lots along the Boise River have willow, cottonwood and Russian olive along the ditches that need to come out.
Irrigation ditches run along and across many Star properties. Where a driveway crosses one, we install and backfill a culvert so water passes and the driveway doesn't sink; see culvert installation. We also fix yards that stay wet with drainage solutions and French drains, and we shape berms and swales with landscape contouring.
Pool digs are common in Star's newer neighborhoods. Our crew cuts to your pool builder's plan, hauls or spreads the dirt and grades around the pool. We also do patio extensions, retaining walls and dirt removal for yards with leftover piles or old berms.
