We've worked with these guys on several pool forming and excavation projects. They're on time, work hard, and do great work. Would recommend to other builders!

Kuna is where the Treasure Valley starts to turn into high desert. South of town the ground is drier and harder, the lots get bigger and the neighbors get farther apart. It's a place where people buy a few acres and want a house, a shop and a driveway, and the dirt work comes first. We help with all of it.
Kuna sits on some of the hardest digging in our area. Caliche, the cemented layer of soil common across the valley, is found here along with basalt, a volcanic rock that can sit close to the surface in parts of Kuna. Caliche can be dug or ripped depending on how hard it is, and basalt may need a hydraulic breaker. Both slow a dig and change the price, which is why we like to see the lot before we bid. Our rock excavation page explains what to expect.
Hard ground also affects what you build on. Caliche-heavy dirt makes poor fill under concrete. We'll often haul it off and bring in granular fill so slabs and driveways stay put. See soil compaction.
A lot of Kuna land starts out as open desert ground or former pasture. Sagebrush, rabbitbrush, tumbleweeds and old fence lines have to come out before anything is built. Our land clearing and lot clearing crews cut, grub and haul it, strip the topsoil and leave a clean building area.
Open ground in Kuna also blows when the wind picks up, and disturbed soil washes when a storm comes through. We plan erosion control into clearing and grading work so the dirt stays where we put it. Once grading is done, topsoil spreading gets a yard ready for seed.
Most of Kuna's rural land has no city sewer or water, so a well and a septic system come with the building. Ada County septic permits go through Central District Health, and the process starts with a site evaluation and soil tests. We dig the test pits, tanks and drainfields for septic system installation and septic system excavation, and repair failing systems under septic repair. Our article on septic permits in Ada and Canyon County explains how to line up the steps.
Utilities on acreage tend to get added one at a time over the years. A better plan is a single corridor along a fence line or driveway that power, water and communications can share. Our underground utilities and trenching services cover that.
Irrigation ditches and canals are part of the landscape in and around Kuna. Long driveways often cross one, and the crossing has to carry weight and let water through. We set culverts at the right grade and backfill them so the driveway holds up; see culvert installation. We also dig new driveways and shop access with excavation for driveways and keep them drained.
Kuna keeps growing, and new neighborhoods are going up on old farm and pasture ground. Our subdivision earthworks, site grading for construction and foundation excavation crews work with builders and owner-builders. Pads for shops, barns and RV storage are another regular request, and we'll lay one out so water runs away from the building.
