Homedale sits in Owyhee County, near the Snake River and the Oregon border. It's a farming community, with fields and ditches around town and long stretches of open ground between properties. We're based in Caldwell, and Homedale is on the western edge of the area we serve.
Homedale is in Owyhee County rather than Canyon or Ada. The digging is the same, but the paperwork can change. Septic permits for Owyhee County go through Southwest District Health, the same district that serves Canyon County. Building permits and road approaches come from the city or the county, depending on where your property sits. We sort out which office applies before the job starts, so you aren't surprised by a missing permit.
Irrigation drives life in this part of the valley, and every property seems to have a ditch, a headgate or a pipeline. We dig and reshape ditches, install culverts where driveways cross them and fix soggy corners and low fields with drainage solutions. Culverts have to be set at the right grade and backfilled in lifts so a loaded truck doesn't crush them.
Working near an irrigation ditch or canal usually needs the district's okay, and we plan digs around the water schedule. Open ditches in summer can't always be shut off on short notice.
Most homes outside the Homedale town limits use a septic system and a well. The permit process starts with a site evaluation, which includes soil pits dug at the planned drainfield. We dig those test holes, then the tank and drainfield for septic system installation and septic system excavation. If a system is failing, our septic repair crew digs down to the problem. Larger lots give room for a shop, a barn, a pond or a long driveway. We cut level pads with site preparation and grading, dig ponds and shape them to hold water, and build excavation for driveways that drain well. If the land is overgrown, our land clearing crew takes out brush, old fences and trees, and our dirt hauling service moves material when you need it on or off the property.
Open ground out here can blow when the wind picks up, so we plan erosion control into bigger grading jobs.
Water, sewer and power lines to rural homes often run a long way.
